The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency Kofi Agyepong with his management on Wednesday, 24th August, 2022 held a meeting with leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana (GRNMA), the Nurse Assistants Preventive and Nurse Assistants control to engage them on the recruitment of the 5,000 SHS Graduates.
The Youth Employment Agency recently announce the intended recruitment of some 5,000 Senior High Graduates under the Community Health Workers Module to augment the efforts of the health workers at the various CHPS COMPOUNDS which has created some misconceptions among the the nuses.
At the meeting, the management of YEA clarified the misconception that beneficiaries of the YEA CHW module were being recruited as substitutes for the qualified health professionals awaiting their postings from the Ghana Health Service.
He further explained to them that the YEA was in no way employing SHS graduates to take their jobs and that the beneficiaries of the YEA CHW module will have no interactions with patients nor perform any responsibilities within the domain of health professionals.
He gave assurance to the GRNMA and NAPNAC that they will continue to dialogue in order to incorporate their professional views in any health-related module they will roll out.
The fruitful engagement between the two stakeholders ended with both parties having cleared the misconceptions and embraced the laudable ideas propounded by the visionary CEO of the Youth Employment Agency to put these SHS Graduates to work in order to prepare them for their future endeavors and also support National development.
