The former President, John Dramani Mahama during his campaign tour in Aflao, has described a renowned Law lecturer and legal practictioner, Justice Abdulai as Silly, for criticizing his call to scrap ‘Ex-GRATIA’ should he return as President in 2025.
The former President in his address to NDC sympathizers and delegates in Aflao in the Ketu South constituency of the Volta Region said, “Somebody who should know better, a lawyer, he said then we should refund all the EX GRATIA we took…, and what he says is a bit silly”.
Mr Abdulai in an interview with Media General‘s Noble Crosby Annan on Thursday, March 2 said, any president who promises to scrap ex gratia for Article 71 office holders will find the process very cumbersome. This statement by the lawyer did not sit well with Mr. Dramani Mahama as he addresses his supporters and thereby describing him as Silly.
Many Ghanaians and social media users have descended heavily on Mr. John Mahama to act as a statesman and be tolerant. Many are of the view that, the former President is becoming overly intolerant when his actions and statements are criticized by the Ghanaian people. It would be recalled, Mr. John Dramani Mahama once said, “If you’ve never been a President, then you cannot criticize him” when he was the President of state. A statement he made in relations to some critics made by the then, Running Mate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, now the Vice President on his economic mismanagement.

2016-2023 AS EX PRESIDENT. and said, “after ‘chopping’ ex gratia as an MP, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President, Acting President, you want to convince us that, with your 4yrs left, you will cancel Ex Gratia”
